Cherre NYC Open Data Session
The event will be split into two segments; a presentation and an interactive exploration of data. The presentation will provide a brief overview of NYC real estate open data and its associated complexities. Topics covered will include the BIN & BBL system, and how to differentiate condos, apartments, & coops. We will finish the presentation with a review of relevant datasets in NYC Open Data.

In the interactive portion of the event, attendees will have the opportunity to join either a user-friendly/non-technical workshop focusing on exploring public real estate data, or a technical “hackathon” style question-answering session. Volunteers from Cherre will be available to answer questions on the scavenger hunt, clarify concepts, and troubleshoot technical issues.

The event is for anyone interested in property open data. While the presentation is geared towards beginners who are learning about NYC’s open property data for the first time, the scavenger hunt portion will be for both technical (i.e. people who can use Excel, SQL, or Python for data analysis) and non-technical people alike.
